The Committee was initially set up to create an awareness of its rich local heritage and environment. It has always been keen to involve the whole community in maintaining and developing its existing natural resources, both for their own enjoyment and hopefully as a place tourists may be encouraged to visit. Areas which the Committee have developed include the Molaise Estate, the area around St. Molaise’s well and adjoining car park, the roads to Old Leighlin School and Leighlinbridge and the stone wall near the Spa Bridge. In recent times groups have undertaken the maintenance of their own roads in keeping with the spirit of the Tidy Towns initiative.
